Got big plans to have modern kitchens fitted in your Cambridge homes this year? Then paying close attention to all the latest interior design trends is probably a good idea… and if you’re wondering what colour of paint to go for, why not see if you like the look of Living Coral, which has just been named as the colour of the year by Pantone.
Apparently, this particular shade represents the fusion of modern life, appearing in our natural surroundings but also simultaneously displaying a “lively presence” in the online world as well.
It’s spirited and sociable, engaging and deigned to encourage lighthearted activity, embodying our interest in playful expression.
As Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, says: “Colour is an equalising lens through which we experience our natural and digital realities, and this is particularly true for Living Coral. With consumers craving human interaction and social connection, the humanising and heartening qualities displayed by the convivial Pantone Living Coral hit a responsive chord.”
Of course, it can be tricky for anyone who’s not a professional interior designer or home décor expert to know how to pair colours successfully – and Pantone has helpfully put together a palette exploration kit to assist you and make sure you get your colour pairings right from the outset.
It recommends combining it with the likes of Storm Grey, Golden Lime, Forest Biome and Martini Olive for a muted look. Or perhaps something like Hot Pink and Conch Shell for something bolder and more brilliant.
